Bilingual Somatic Counselor

Licensed Somatic Counselor, trained in Whole-Brained methods:

The Behavior Narrative, including Expressive Therapies (Family Constellation work, Hakomi Experiential Therapy, Open Chair Dialog, SandPlay, & Expressive Exercises) and Belief Work (CBT & Psych-K); Trauma Therapies for Significant Life Events, Health Challenges, & Relationships (EMDR, & BrainSpotting); Stress & Nervous System Regulation, New Response Blueprints, and Communication Skills.


Training:

I have a master's degree in Somatic Counseling Psychology from Naropa University in Boulder, CO, a teaching degree for Spanish, and an undergraduate degree in International Business and Foreign Language.  Using these varied learning experiences as well as the range of work experience highlighted below, I provide a therapeutic lens which integrates:

  Nonverbal with verbal communication

  An understanding of lifespan development and how we learn and

  An understanding of identity development linked with 

    the physiology of our brain patterning


Experience:

A counselor and a language educator over the last 10+ years

A human services professional the preceding 10 years


Therapeutic Settings:  facilitating individual, partner, and family therapy in private practice; individual, partner, and family therapy in an agency setting; group therapy for children and individual therapy for adults experiencing grief and loss in an agency setting; Listening Therapy for adults and children experiencing Sensory Processing Disorders in an agency setting


Instructional Settings:  teaching children ranging from 3 to 17 years of age and adults up to 70 years of age, using communication arts for Spanish and English as a Second Language


Professional Settings:  providing human services support with self-care, communication, and life transitions
